Over the past several years, the Town has strategically acquired six hectares of parkland in Craigleith from Windfall, Second Nature, and Blue Vista development sites. This land was gained through the parkland dedication included in each development agreement. The intent is to transform the land into a community park for all to enjoy.
To launch the project, the Town has started to identify infrastructure necessary for planned improvements, such as parking and public washrooms, and will be consulting with residents and the broader community to hear what recreational and natural elements will best serve residents.
Why Now?
There is potential for the development of the community park to run concurrently with home construction happening at the Blue Vista development site. Aligning these projects would help reduce future construction disturbances once homes start to be occupied.

The project team has prepared a public survey to gather additional feedback on the preliminary designs for the Craigleith Community Park. The survey covers how different features will relate on the site, and seeks more feedback on items including potential playground elements and other amenities. The survey will remain open until end of day on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
The Town has scheduled an in-person Design Open House regarding the Craigleith Community Park project on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at The Shed Community Centre in Windfall from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Staff from Colliers Project Leaders and SHIFT Landscape Architecture will be in attendance with the preliminary design layouts for the park.
Members of the public were invited to drop in at any time to view the preliminary designs, provide feedback and ask questions about the project. The feedback received on the designs will be compiled in a report to Council where staff will seek further direction on the final elements to be included in the detailed design.
