Notice: Georgian Trail Poison Ivy Spot Spraying

Eagles Weed Control will be spot spraying poison ivy along the sides of the Georgian Trail throughout Town of The Blue Mountains during the week of June 28, 2021.

Please be sure to practice the appropriate 2 metre physical distancing guideline whenever in a public setting and to adhere to the Provincial Orders.

For a guide to safely enjoy winter activities throughout Grey County in the winter, please visit the Grey County Winter Activity Map. You will find Town of The Blue Mountains winter recreation trail locations, as well as other locations where you can snowshoe, cross-country ski, toboggan, ice skate and fat bike.

Several of the Town's Parks and Pavilions are available for rent for small weddings, family reunions and other unlicensed special events.

Booking Procedure

  1. Contact Community Services for available rental times
  2. Staff will provide you with a Parks & Pavilions Rental Contract
  3. Return completed contract to Community Services Staff
  4. Pay for the booking

Town Trails

There are approximately 285 kilometers of trails throughout the municipality which are open to the public. Currently, Town owned trails are not maintained during the winter months.

Third Party Trails & Natural Areas

3 Stage Trail

  • Located in the Pretty River Valley Provincial Park and is a very popular mountain biking destination. This trail is owned and operated by Ontario Parks

Bruce Trail

Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Trails

Kolapore Uplands Trails

  • Located in the hamlet of Kolapore and is a very popular cross-country skiing destination 
  • This trail is managed by the Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association

Waterfall Tour

Apple Pie Trail

Is a Culinary Adventure Trail inspired by South Georgian Bay's apple-growing history, that brings together culinary, shopping, adventure, farms and other local experiences that celebrate our history and reinterpret the mighty apple for the 21st century. 

Although camping is not permitted in Town Parks, there are a number of excellent camping and RVing locations throughout The Blue Mountains and surrounding areas.

If you are considering memorializing a loved one, memorial benches and trees are available for purchase from the Town’s Community Services Department.

Application Process

  1. Complete the Memorial Bench and Tree Application form
  2. Send application form to Community Services Staff
  3. Meet with Parks Staff to choose a suitable location
  4. Pay applicable fees 
  5. Approve memorial plaque wording and font for engraving

Reporting Memorial Bench or Tree Damage

Please report any damage to memorial benches or trees to Parks Staff as soon as possible.

  3. Meet with Parks Staff to choose a suitable location
  4. Pay applicable fees

If you would like to perform work on your property but cannot get the necessary equipment where you need it, you can apply for a Temporary Access Permit to cross Town trails or parkland.

Note: Tomahawk Winter Trail is closed for the season

New for the winter season, the Town has expanded winter recreation opportunities to help encourage residents to explore and experience nature and the natural beauty of The Blue Mountains.

Georgian Trail

The Town will be grooming the Georgian Trail throughout the winter season. The Georgian Trail is a multi-use trail for walking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, and other eco-friendly activities. There will not be set tracks for cross-country skiing on the Georgian Trail due to the limited space.

Tomahawk Recreational Complex

The Town will be grooming a hard-packed loop trail at the Tomahawk Recreational Complex throughout the winter season. Weather permitting, set tracks for cross-counrty skiing will be added along the groomed trail.

Before You Go

The Town would like to emphasize that motorized and gas-powered machines are not permitted on the Georgian Trail or at the Tomahawk Recreational Complex. In addition, all dogs must be leashed, and please remember to pick up after your pets. Please also respect the natural areas and take all garbage with you.

As a reminder, when enjoying a public space please remember to practice 2-metre physical distancing, wash your hands regularly and stay at home if you are sick. In addition, the Town would like to emphasize that common touchpoints within public outdoor spaces are not sanitized or cleaned after each use.

If you encounter any damage, graffiti or hazardous conditions while enjoying our parks or trails, please report it to our Parks Staff
