Employment FAQs

The Town's Human Resource Department is located at Town Hall, at 32 Mill Street, Thornbury, Ontario, N0H 2P0. For any employment related inquiries, please contact Human Resources directly.

Our business hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  We are closed Saturdays, Sundays and Statutory Holidays.

  • The Town only accepts job applications electronically
  •  All applicants must apply through our website at the Employment Opportunities page
  • The Town does not accept unsolicited or paper applications
  • Employment Opportunities are posted on our website and any other external job boards that relate to the position
  • Late applications will not be considered
  • Applications are reviewed, assessed and screened
  • Only the candidates that are selected for the next step in the recruitment phase will be contacted
  • Only short-listed candidates are invited for an interview  
  • Interviews consist of behavioural and technical questions
  • Depending on the position, there may be multiple rounds of interviews and/or job-based tests, including hands-on practical testing
  • Pre-employment screening tests are conducted based on the nature of the position. This may include (but is not limited to) the following requirements:
    • Criminal Record Searches
    • Financial Credit Inquiries
    • Educational and Credential Verification
    • Driver’s Abstracts
    • Employment References
  • Offers are presented to successful candidates
