Economic Development Strategy 2020-2025

PLEASE NOTE THIS PROJECT HAS NOW CONCLUDED AND THE STRATEGY HAS BEEN FORMALLY APPROVED FOR IMPLEMENTATION.

The Blue Mountains has experienced significant growth and development over the past decade. As a true four-season destination, The Blue Mountains has an abundance of unique culinary, recreational, and cultural features.

The creation of an Economic Development Strategy for the Town of The Blue Mountains is important to ensure that our community grows in an economically viable and sustainable manner. The new five-year Economic Development Strategy is being developed in partnership with the Economic Development Advisory Committee and the Ontario Ministry of Agricultural Food and Rural Affairs. This strategy is expected to be published by summer 2020.

Project Update

  • At the May 17, 2021 meeting, Council formally approved the 2021-2025 Economic Development Strategy outlining the 5-year strategic path forward and initiating the implementation process of the Town’s first strategy aimed at facilitating business growth and success in The Blue Mountains.

How to Get Involved

The Economic Development Survey was available between January 16, 2020 and February 19, 2020. Two separate surveys were conducted to gain feedback from the business community as well as the general public and residents. For an overview of the survey results, please click here

To develop a successful Economic Development Strategy, consultation and feedback from local business leaders will play an essential role within the development of the strategy. The Town has launched a public survey to gain feedback from residents and stakeholders.

The results from this survey will be reviewed and analyzed by the Economic Development Advisory Committee and Town staff. The outcomes will be used to develop the action items and specific tactics within the strategy.
