May 2018 - International Building Safety Month

Building Code Saves Lives!

May is International Building Safety Month, an annual campaign to raise public awareness about building safety and the importance of current safety codes, as well as the role of code officials in creating safe, sustainable structures that communities can rely on for generations to come.

Building Safety Month brings attention to issues that are not regularly considered unless disaster strikes. Modern codes and standards incorporate the latest technology and provide the safest, most resilient structures for our families and communities to protect against building failures, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, high-rise fires and other modern-day disasters.

This campaign reinforces the need for a strong and efficient system of code enforcement and aims to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of Building Services staff that maintain this system. In recognition of this need and aim, The Corporation of The Town of The Blue Mountains is a proud supporter of Building Safety Month and hereby acknowledges the professionalism of its Building Officials and their dedication to Public Safety.
