Festive Ride Update: OPP Reminds People to Plan Ahead to Make the Right Choices

Number of suspensions and charges still too high.

Festive R.I.D.E. Update - Central Region

(ORILLIA, ON) - Detachments within the Central Region of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been participating in the annual Festive R.I.D.E. program since November 24, 2017.

Since that time, officers have participated in 1154 R.I.D.E. spot checks. These spot checks have resulted in 59 warn range suspensions and 69 persons charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Over .80mgs or Refuse to Provide a Sample.

The OPP reminds people to plan ahead and make the right choices when travelling this holiday season. Each community has a number of options which are available to drivers, but the simplest still remains to not drink and drive.
