The Blue Mountains OPP detachment in Thornbury hosts a record check blitz from 10 am to 2 pm on November 4th


(Collingwood/The Blue Mountains, ON.) Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be hosting a criminal record check blitz where documents will be completed while applicants wait. 

The blitz will take place at The Blue Mountains OPP detachment in Thornbury on Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office administration is usually unavailable during those hours however hosting this blitz on a weekend will make it easier for residents, who cannot attend during weekday business hours, to obtain their record check.

The record check blitz is open to any resident of Collingwood and The Blue Mountains.

If a vulnerable sector (VS) check is required, which would include anyone working with children or the elderly, the applicants must bring with them a letter requesting the VS check.

Checks for employment purposes will cost $25 in cash (exact amount).

Two pieces of identification must be provided at the time of application (one must be photo identification). Copies of identification will not be accepted.

Acceptable forms of photo identification include LCBO Bring Your Identification cards, military employment cards, Canadian citizenship cards, First Nations status cards, passports, permanent resident cards, Canadian National Institute for the Blind cards, firearms possession and acquisition licences, Ontario photo ID (issued by the MTO), Nexus cards and Fast Pass cards.

Acceptable non-photo identification includes birth certificates, baptismal certificates, hunting licences, outdoors cards, Canadian blood donor cards and immigration papers.

Ontario health cards and social insurance number cards are not permitted to be used as identification due to legislative restrictions.

The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP completed more than 2,000 criminal record checks in 2016 and 1,270 between January and August in 2017.
